Use the above two images for this tutorial. The center one is the actual animation.

I have seen this question posted on various forums and also on yahoo answers. How do I create simple image animation? Well the easiest way to create animation is with the help of photoshop and image ready. You can also use flash, but this method is very popular as you can create many effects quickly without any actionscript etc. Here are the steps. What we are going to create here is a candle with flame moving to and fro.
1. Get your own candle image minus the flame or create / use my image.
2. Create / or use my flame image. The flame image can be created with the help of brush tool.
3. Make 3 copies of the flame image ( excluding the candle image ). With the help of ripple filter ( Filter >> Distort >> Ripple ) make one of the flame images bend on one side ( right side ). For the second flame image create the same effect but the bend has to be on the left side. You can keep the third image as it is ( vertical ).

4. Place all the images on different layers. The candle layer at the bottom and all the flame layers above.
5.Jump to image ready via file menu.

6. In the animation window duplicate the frame two times. In all you should have 3 frames.In frame 1 untick the 2 and 3rd layer visibility. In frame 2 untick 1 and 3 layer visibility. And, finally inframe 3 untick 1 and 2 layer visibility. In the animation window set the timings for the indivudual frames. In my case I have a timing of 0.2 seconds. Click the play button to see the animation in action.
The above method can be used for image slide show OR object moving from point A to point B.
